New Zealand
Impossibly blue lakes, glacier-fed valleys, and mountains that don't look quite real. New Zealand is the kind of place I keep returning to, just to go looking for something new.
Glacial Veins
Glacial runoff braiding through a New Zealand valley, mini rivers splitting and rejoining like veins. It is one of the most amazing sights in the country, and one I look for every time I return. From above, the water draws patterns no artist would dare. An organic, abstract print that rewards long looks.
Mountain Deer
A mountain deer loving life in Queenstown, with the peaks of New Zealand's south for a backyard. It is a small, genuine encounter in a huge landscape, the kind of moment that stays with you longer than the famous lookouts. A warm, characterful print that softens a wall of mountains with a heartbeat.
A Mountain Portrait
A classic mountain face in New Zealand, all symmetry and mood. I can't remember exactly where I took this, and honestly that suits the picture. It is a portrait of every great peak at once. Dark stone, balanced lines, and weather with an opinion. A strong, moody print for spaces that lean minimal and masculine.
Roys Blind
Roys Peak under weather that refused to cooperate, and a frame made anyway. When you don't get the conditions you hoped for, you work with what you've got, and sometimes that discipline hands you something better. Mist, mood, and mountain in place of the postcard. A moody New Zealand print with a story about persistence built in.
Mt Cook Clouds
Mt Cook from the Hooker Valley Track, wearing its cloud like it planned it. New Zealand's highest peak has real presence even half-hidden, maybe especially then. The walk in is one of the country's great short hikes, and this is the payoff. A crisp alpine print for lovers of the South Island.
Blue Water Special
Lake Tekapo, the bluest water I've ever seen. The colour is real. Glacial flour in the water turns the whole lake this impossible milky turquoise. No filter has ever needed to touch it. It is a colour you want to keep looking at, which is exactly what makes it art. A fresh, vivid print that lifts a room instantly.
Night Galaxy
The Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo under a sky absolutely full of stars. Astro was prime that night. Tekapo is a dark-sky reserve, and on a clear night the Milky Way turns up in force over this historic little stone church. It is smallness and vastness in one frame. A breathtaking print for bedrooms and quiet rooms.
Milford Waterfall
When it rains at Milford Sound, the cliffs erupt into literally thousands of waterfalls. This shot was worth getting soaked for, because it shows just how wild they get. Water falling from height into blue water below. It is New Zealand at full volume. A dramatic print that brings raw scale to a wall.
